This is us, Dara and Isami. We've been together since 2004. We know each other well enough to have the confidence to start this new business and family adventure.
We are the creators of NARA & YOKO minimalist titanium containers.
Our debut product, literally went through hundreds of iterations, refining each one before we got it right. You will notice the great care and attention to detail that went into all of these containers.
The effort we made to get from concept to completion was totally worth waiting for, and we are very happy NARA & YOKO can be in your hands and become part of your EDC collection.
You will notice the great care and attention to detail that went into these titanium containers. These little jewels took so much work and effort to get from concept to completion that we can't wait to see them in the hands of people around the world and becoming part of their EDC collection.
With your support and your feedback after the first Kickstarter campaign, we continued improving not only these containers but also one more product we have been developing and we will launch very soon.
Thank you for believing in our vision of a well designed product.
In 2014, we started a small business in a one car garage at home, in a small town, in a small island called Gran Canaria. We started with nothing more than a Trotec Speedy 300 laser cutter. In less than two years our business grew rapidly and we had to hire two more people. We purchased two more lasers, a small lathe, a small manual mill that we converted to CNC and a few woodworking machines. We got to a point that we literally had to walk sideways inside the shop and at times we couldn't work simultaneously due to the limited space. There are still some videos on YouTube where you can see some of our first projects we made in this small shop. Sometimes we wish we had more time to create more videos to share with you.
So it was time for us to move to another place. It was a difficult decision. It was the first time we had to rent a place. It was almost four times bigger and it had three phase power, a dream come true. One of our team members was a very talented woodworker so, now that we had three phase power, we decided to invest in professional woodworking tools. Nowadays there are a lot of woodworking shops that are closing so we got a very good deal on some beautiful and powerful machines. We were just starting to settle in the new place when suddenly our lives changed forever…
This is by far the riskiest move since we met 15 years ago. Starting this business got us out of our comfort zone by a mile in every aspect of our lives.
It involved moving our 6 member family more than 2000kms from a small town, in a small island in the Atlantic Ocean to a big city. Also, investing everything we got on a CNC lathe that we bought in Denmark and didn't had a clue how to run. Last but not least, designing and creating a product made out of titanium that hopefully people would buy from us...
We made it and called the models NARA & YOKO.
Stay tuned and sign up below for updates, you will be the first one to know all about us...
